The Articles of Incorporation and Bylaws Committee (AIBC) is an elected standing committee composed of four Active SQA members. The vision of the AIBC is to sustain the Articles of Incorporation and Bylaws so that they may act as an adequate and effective foundation for the Society’s operation on behalf of its membership. The AIBC works to achieve this vision by following its Mission Statement. This requires the AIBC to evaluate and recommend to the SQA Board of Directors proposed changes to the Articles of Incorporation and Bylaws, so that, if approved by the Board, these proposed changes may be forwarded to the Membership for consideration and vote.
The objectives of the AIBC are to:
- Carefully consider proposed changes to Bylaws or Articles of Incorporation for consistency and appropriateness;
- Seek advice on proposed changes from SQA Legal Counsel as necessary; and
- Submit final proposed amendments to Bylaws or Articles of Incorporation to the Board of Directors for approval to be
placed on the ballot.
Committee members are elected by the SQA membership for a term of three years. Elections are staggered so that two
positions are up for election each year for two consecutive years, with no positions open for election the third. Members
may serve for two consecutive terms and are eligible for election to an additional term following a lapse of one year.
