SQA Scholarship Awards

Each year, scholarships may be awarded to SQA members, Regional Chapter members, students and QA professionals to assist with the costs of attending the SQA Annual Meeting or training. Descriptions of scholarships are posted in the tabs below, organized by type of recipient, and recipients are recognized in the tabs as well.

Most SQA Scholarships are supported by the SQA Learning Foundation.

Please note, the amount of the award is taxable, so a 1099-MISC will be sent to the recipient. 
SQA offers the following scholarships, as well as Specialty Section and Regional Chapter opportunities, for each year's Annual Meeting. Recipients will be announced at the Annual Meeting.

Scholarship Details


For SQA Members — Active member type

Membership Retention and Development Committee (MRDC) Scholarship — For New SQA Active Members

The SQA Membership Retention and Development Committee (MRDC) Scholarship Award is sponsored by the SQA Board of Directors. The value of the scholarship award is a waiver of registration fees for the SQA Annual Meeting held in the same year that the scholarship is awarded. Please note that this waiver does not include travel costs, Quality College course registration fees, or any special event tickets. The amount of the award is taxable, so a 1099-MISC will be sent to the recipient.

Selection Criteria

  • Applicants must be new Active members who joined SQA and renewed their membership.
  • The application shall be submitted as indicated below and shall include a letter specifying the reason for the application and what is hoped to be gained by participation in the Annual Meeting. The application must be accompanied by a current CV.
  • Applicants may indicate financial need, but that is not necessarily a requirement for the award.

Outreach Scholarship Awards — for SQA Outreach Members

SQA Outreach Scholarship

The Outreach Scholarship is sponsored by the SQA Board of Directors for the Annual Meeting. The scholarship shall be provided to a registered Outreach Member and shall include all Annual Meeting and Quality College registration fees for the year in which it is awarded, up to six nights of hotel accommodations and up to an additional $2,000 to cover travel expenses (documented with receipts) for the SQA Annual Meeting held in the same year that the scholarship is awarded. It will also include the Annual Meeting Online Library Recordings at no cost for both the winner and the alternate. The purpose of the scholarship is to promote knowledge of research quality assurance in low-middle income countries. Applications shall be accepted every year, but the SQA Board of Directors may decide to defer the scholarship until the next year if the number and/or quality of applications received are deemed insufficient.  

Selection Criteria

  • The applicant shall be an Outreach member of SQA, in good standing, and shall have been an Outreach member for at least one year.
  • Self nominations shall be accepted.
  • Application shall be submitted in written form, and shall include a letter specifying the name of the scholarship for which the individual is applying, the reason for the application, what is hoped to be gained by participation in the Annual Meeting, and a list of activities dedicated to service to SQA or its Regional Chapters. The application and letter must be accompanied by a current CV.
  • Applicants shall have a financial need to attend (i.e., neither they nor their company is able to pay for their registration fees and travel).
